Back in November and December of 2021, 20 songs qualified into the Eesti Laul semi-finals, and, after a few months wait, they have now arrived! Here, we preview the 10 acts competing in the second show, in their pre-determined running order!
Jyrise – Plaksuta
Jyrise, a debutant in Eesti Laul this year, will open the second semi-final. He qualified from quarter final 2 thanks to the juries – will his song “Plaksuta” take him to the final for the very first time?
Jaagup Tuisk – Kui vaid
Like Jyrise, Jaagup was also a jury qualifier, albeit from the very first quarter-final. He finished in 2nd place with “Beautiful Lie” in 2020 – will he be able to go one better with “Kui vaid” this year?
Boamadu – Mitte kauaks
Boamadu, a band, are the first direct televote qualifier to appear in this semi, having gone straight through from the first quarter-final. They are competing in Eesti Laul for the first time this year – can they qualify to the final with “Mitte kauaks”?
Evelin Samuel – Waterfall
There are 2 former Estonian Eurovision entrants in this semi final, and Evelin Samuel is first up with “Waterfall”. This was a direct televote qualifier from the first quarter-final. Evelin finished 6th in Jerusalem in 1999 – will she make it to Eurovision again this time?
Black Velvet – Sandra
Black Velvet is a three-piece band who qualified from the quarter-final 4 televote with “Sandra”. They are also debutants in Eesti Laul this year – will they be lucky enough to make the final?
Pur Mudd & Shira – Golden Shores
Pur Mudd & Shira also took part in Quarter-final 4, however they qualified thanks to the juries. Shira had also taken part in quarter final 3, but was eliminated. Can this duet, “Golden Shores”, carry them all the way to the final?
Maian – Meeletu
Maian was a jury qualifier from the first quarter-final. Alongside Karl-Kristjan and Whogaux, she finished 4th in Eesti Laul 2017 – she will be hoping to get to the final again with her solo effort, “Meeletu”.
Minimal Wind ft. Elisabeth Tiffany – What To Make Of This
Another jury qualifier from the last quarter-final, Minimal Wind ft. Elisabeth Tiffany will be hoping enough will be made of “What To Make Of This” to go through to the final.
Stefan – Hope
Our final 2 acts here were both televote qualifiers from Quarter-Final 3. Firstly, Stefan has reached the Eesti Laul final twice before, even finishing 2nd in 2019. He will “Hope” that it will be third time lucky for him this year!
Anna Sahlene – Champion
Our final semi-finalist is Anna Sahlene, who represented Estonia on home soil in 2002. She also participated in her native Sweden’s selection, Melodifestivalen, several times in the 2000s. Now back in Eesti Laul, will she be the “Champion” for 2022?
Unfortunately, Minimal Wind feat. Elisabeth Tiffany tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, so they are unable to perform live tonight. Just like in the quarter-final, the music video for their entry will be shown in place of a live performance.
The second semi final of Eesti Laul airs this Saturday at 6:30pm CET where 5 of these acts will qualify for the grand final over two rounds of voting. In the first round, 3 acts will qualify by a combination of televotes and jury votes. In round 2, televoters will select a further 2 entries to go through. But who will they be?
