Polish superstar Margaret is once again nominated in this category, and already has four MTV EMA awards to her name. First bursting onto the Polish music scene back in 2006 appearing on “Szansa na Sukces” her career has continued to grow from strength to strength. Perhaps best known to Eurovision fans with her participation in Poland’s 2016 national final with her hit single “Cool Me Down” which was tipped as an early favourite to go all the way and win Eurovision, it eventually placed second in the national final. Margaret later competed in Sweden’s Melodifestivalen, in 2018 with “In My Cabana” and 2019 with “Tempo” – is a fifth EMA award on the horizon?

Best Portugeuse Act

Bárbara Tinoco

Festival da canção 2020 runner-up Bárbara Tinoco, may have just lost out on the ticket to the later cancelled edition of Eurovision with her vintage track “Passe-Partout“, but her career in Portugal has continued to blossom. Could an MTV EMA award win be in store for her tonight? Time will tell.

Diogo Piçarra

He was the favourite to win Festival da canção 2018 with “Canção do fim” before controversially withdrawing just days before the grand final, but Diogo is still a force to be reckoned with in the Portuguese music scene, a win for Best Portuguese Act could be on the cards for him tonight.

Best Spanish Act

Operación Triunfo 2017 superstar Aitana is once again nominated in the Best Spanish Act category, despite only finishing second on the reality competition Aitana is considered by many as the biggest breakthrough star of OT since its reboot. Aitana competed in the OT Eurovision Gala, with the hope of representing Spain at ESC 2018 in Lisbon with her tracks “Arde” and the hit single “Lo Malo” a collaboration with fellow OT star Ana Guerra. A well-loved personality in Spain, Aitana could very easily win this award.

Best Swiss Act

Gjon’s Tears

Two time Eurovision star Gjon’s Tears (Gjon Muharremaj) – was introduced to Eurovision fans in 2020 with his track “Répondez-Moi” which was tipped as a potential winner for Switzerland, prior to the contest’s cancellation.
