Melodi Grand Prix is back for Heat 3 on Saturday, January 29th. Farida won heat 2 with ‘Dangerous‘ – who will be following her and qualifying from this heat?
Here are all the artists that will be competing this week…
Mari Bølla – ‘Your Loss’
Mari Bølla is the youngest participant in this years MGP. She’s only 17 but has a wealth of experience behind her already when it comes to performing on stage and television. She placed 3rd on Idol Junior when she was only 10, and then in 2020, she became the youngest-ever winner of the main series of Idol at just 15 years old.
Mari’s song ‘Your Loss’ is an explosion of modern pop, and is a great song to debut with at MGP. Will she go all the way as she did at Idol? We will have to wait and see.

VILDE – ‘Titans’
VILDE has been a rising star in Norway for the last few years, being heavily promoted by NRK’s radio stations. At the beginning of 2021, she was named NRK P3’s ‘Artist of the Month’.
Now, she’s looking to become the artist that represents Norway in Turin with ‘Titans’. The song is written by herself, Sindre Timberlid Jenssen and Ben Adams – a former MGP runner up with his band A1 in 2010. His bandmate, Christian Ingebrigtsen, is an automatic qualifier this year.
VILDE featured in Eurobuzz’s list of ‘Artists We’d Like To See in MGP’, which you can read by clicking here. We wish her the best of luck!

Sturla – ‘Skår i hjerte’
As one of only two fully Norweigan songs in Melodi Grand Prix 2022, Sturla will be looking to do better than heat 2’s ‘Kvelertak’ and reach the final. It’s also the shortest track taking part this year, at 2 minutes and 34 seconds.
Sturla has been releasing music for over 10 years in his hometown of Trøndelag and is now ready to be introduced to a wider Norweigan audience. In 2020, he saw success across radio stations in Norway with his single ‘Kanskje du kan vær mitt paradis‘ with Hanna Mjøen, becoming regularly rotated on NRK P3 & NRK P1. Will ‘Skår i hjerte’ have the same success?

Oda Gondrosen – ‘Hammer Of Thor’
Oda Gondrosen is finally making her dream come true by entering Melodi Grand Prix, as it’s been something she has wished to take part in for many years. She signed up for both Idol and The Voice Norway in 2016, but decided she was too young. Eventually, in 2020 she entered Idol again, placing 3rd.
She’s a trained nurse but is now looking to pursue her musical passion whilst she has the opportunity. ‘Hammer of Thor’ is written by MGP 2022 favourite Elsie Bay, who is taking part with ‘Death Of Us’.

Automatic Qualifier Performance
Northkid – ‘Someone’
Northkid – consisting of members Bilal, Helge, Håkon, Sebastian and Vegard – are a band from Finnmark. Originally just a group of friends, they started making music together as teenagers and have now started to see increasing success in Norway, with MGP being a major platform for them in building on their already blossoming career.
They describe their music as ‘rock-influenced pop’ which can definitely be heard in their music. ‘Someone’ is a strong ballad, and one that definitely earns its spot as an automatic qualifier.
If you follow them on social media, then it’s clear to see that they’re embracing this experience and seem pretty excited to get on stage and show Norway their performance. They’re documenting their MGP journey on TikTok, which you can find by clicking here.
Northkid replaces Subwoolfer as this heats AQ performance, due to Subwoolfer contracting Covid. We hope that they’ll be better soon!
