As the dust settles on Turin 2022, attention has already shifted to the artists that could be potential representatives for their respective countries in 2023. The most significant so far, is rising Romanian star Olivia Addams.
In an interview this morning on Kiss FM Romania, the star declared her interest in submitting a song for the selection process next year. We should note that a format and Romania’s participation itself at Eurovision 2023 are yet to be confirmed.
Olivia is perhaps best known for her 2021 release “Stranger” which has racked up over 18 million Spotify streams, outside of Romania the track also became a radio hit in both Poland and Ukraine.
Global Records seems to be a prominent fixture within Romania’s Eurovision participation nowadays, their first involvement came back in 2020 with Roxen, & continued in 2021 with “Amnesia” being internally selected by TVR. Wrs was the labels hope in Selecția Națională 2022.
This year Romania qualified for the Grand Final for the first time in five years with “Llámame” performed by Wrs. It placed 18th in the Grand Final.
Will Olivia continue the Global Records trend for Romania next year? Time will tell! Be sure to let us know your thoughts!
