Ones to Watch

Despite only knowing the EMA Freลก artists’ full songs, what can we still expect from Saturday night? We take a look at some of the contenders to advance from this semi-final.

July Jones – Girls Can Do Anything

July Jones is no stranger to the stage. She has performed all around Europe and this is only continuing in 2022, as she will be supporting British rock band Yonaka on their upcoming tour and American singer Slayyyter on her European tour. It looks like she’ll be bringing her classic electro-pop sound with her track, Girls Can Do Anything but with a rock twist. Will she advance to the final?

David Amaro – ล e vedno si lepa

David Amaro is a well-known Slovenian singer and songwriter, who was first in the public eye at the age of 12, finishing third in the singing competition TV show Prvi glasek Gorenjske. Since his young age, he has picked up numerous prizes in further singing competitions and according to Google, he was the most googled Slovanian musical in 2019. From the snippet, it sounds like David is bringing a Slovenian-language power ballad with screaming electric guitars that will show off his award-winning voice.

Jonatan Haller – Obzorje

Jonatan Haller is another singer-songwriter performing on the stage tonight. He is half Slovenian and half Portuguese and his back-catalogue contains songs in a range of languages. Tonight he’ll be singing in Slovenian in what sounds like an easy-on-the-ear electro-pop track with a catchy chorus.

Luma – All In

One of the highlights of EMA Freลก, Luma captured the audience with their atmospheric electronic track. Out of the songs we have in full so far, this is one of the standouts.

Who are you most looking forward to seeing tonight? Let us know in the comments?
