It’s one of the biggest highlights of the Eurovision calendar year: ESC250 2021! The EuroBuzz team’s votes are in – let’s take a look at how we voted and who got our 12 points in 2021!

AJ

12. 🇺🇦 Go_A – SHUM (Ukraine 2012)
10. 🇱🇻 Aminata – Love Injected (Latvia 2015)
8. 🇭🇷 Danijela – Neka Mi Ne Svane (Croatia 1998)
7. 🇩🇰 Aud Wilken – Fra Mols til Skagen (Denmark 1995)
6. 🇸🇪 One More Time – Den Vilda (Sweden 1996)

4. 🇬🇪 Sopho – Visionary Dream (Georgia 2007)

2. 🇮🇱 Netta – Toy (Israel 2018)
1. 🇸🇲 Senhit – Adrenalina (San Marino 2021)

SHUM got my 12 points because… SHUM was one of the stand out performances of 2021, deservedly coming 2nd in the televote, and has already solidified itself as one of the most memorable and unique Eurovision entries of the 21st century. Authentic to Ukrainian culture, yet instantly accessible, I’ve been obsessed with SHUM ever since I first heard it. While it feels strange not giving my 12 to myfavourite ESC entry of all time (Love Injected’ by Aminata, which gets my 10), SHUM thoroughly deserved my top marks this year – fingers crossed it gets a placing in ESC250 that is reflective of its quality and impact on the fandom!

10. 🇨🇾 Tamta – Replay (Cyprus 2019)
8. 🇹🇷 Sebnem Paker & Group Ethnic – Dinle (Turkey 1997)
7. 🇮🇱 Gali Atari & Milk & Honey – Hallelujah (Isreal 1979)
6. 🇬🇷 Antique – (I Would) Die For You (Greece 2001)

2. 🇷🇸 Jelena Tomaševic ft Bora Dugic – Oro (Serbia 2008)
1. 🇷🇺 Anastasia Prikhodko – Mamo (Russia 2009)

Marija Magdalena got my 12 points because… Marija Magdalena is a true masterpiece, and one that will remain a favourite of mine for years to come. Croatia really was a Eurovision powerhouse in the 90s and early 00s, and I would love a return to this quality from them in the near future (please come through Dora 2022). Shout out to the Croatian king, Francesco I’m sure he’ll appreciate this.

Eleanor

12. 🇮🇹 Måneskin – Zitti e Buoni (Italy 2021)
10. 🇺🇦 Go_A – SHUM (Ukraine 2021)
8. 🇳🇴 Margaret Berger – I Feed You My Love (Norway 2013)
7. ⚪️🔴⚪️ Naviband – Historyja majho žycci (Belarus 2017)
6. 🇫🇷 Barbra Pravi – Voilà (France 2021)
5. 🇮🇹 Francesco Gabbani – Occidentalis Karma (Italy 2017)
4. 🇱🇻 Aminata – Love Injected (Lativa 2015)
3. 🇫🇮 Hanna Pakarinen – Leave Me Alone (Finland 2007)
2. 🇧🇦 Hari Mata Hari – Lejla (Bosnia and Herzegovina 2006)
1. 🇱🇹 The Roop – Discotheque (Lithuania 201)

Zitti e Buoni got my 12 points because… I have loved many Eurovision songs that have gone on to be winners in the past, and like many diehard fans, I’ve had a fairly good idea who would lift the trophy before we arrived at the Grand Final in May, but I’ve never had such certainty that an act would emerge victorious as I had with Måneskin.

I love live music, and even more so an act that has charisma onstage while delivering a technically consummate performance. Måneskin had this in buckets, a swagger that very few can carry off without appearing conceited (although I know some disagree with me there).

For me, it’s the full package: great staging, great styling, great performance, and most importantly a banging song that I can never listen to just once. ‘Zitti e Buoni’ is not just my favourite winner, or my favourite Italian entry, but my current favourite entry of all time.

Francesco

12. 🇭🇷 Doris Dragovic – Marija Magdalena (Croatia 1999)
10. 🇪🇪 Elina Born & Stig Rästa – Goodbye To Yesterday (Estonia 2015)
8. 🇳🇱 Edsilia – Hemel en Aarde (Netherlands 1998)
7. 🇸🇮 Maja Keuc – No One (Slovenia 2011)
6. 🇧🇦 Hari Mata Hari – Lejla (Bosnia and Herzegovina 2006)
5. 🇭🇷 Tajči – Hajde Da Ludujemo (Yugoslavia 1990)
4. 🇬🇧 Imaani – Where are you? (United Kingdom 1998)
3. 🇮🇹 Jalisse – Fiumi di Parole (Italy 1997)
2. 🇩🇪 Lena – Taken By a Stranger (Germany 2011)
1. 🇹🇷 Tugba Önal & Grup Mistik – Dön Artik (Turkey 1999)

Marija Magdalena got my 12 points because… This song is so so good, and should’ve been Croatia’s first victory. It’s such a powerful song, and Doris’ voice is insane!

Georga

12. 🇺🇦 MÉLOVIN – Under the Ladder (Ukraine 2018)
10. 🇪🇸 Blas Cantó – Universo (Spain 2020)
8. 🇮🇹 Diodato – Fai Rumore (Italy 2020)
7. 🇪🇸 Blas Cantó – Voy a quedarme (Spain 2021)
6. 🇧🇬 Kristian Kostov – Beautiful Mess (Bulgaria 2017)
5. 🇮🇹 Måneskin – Zitti e buoni (Italy 2021)
4. 🇹🇷 maNga – We Could Be The Same (Turkey 2010)
3. 🇱🇺 France Gall – Poupée de cire, poupée de son (Luxembourg 1965)
2. 🇮🇱 Gali Atari & Milk and Honey – Hallelujah (Isreal 1979)
1. 🇬🇷 Sarbel – Yassou Maria (Greece 2007)

Under the Ladder got my 12 points because… Although it’s maybe not the most “typical” of votes within ESC250, I really had to give my 12 to Under the Ladder, purely for the fact that it’s the song that started it all for me.

The song means so much to me for so many reasons, especially as without it I’d never have discovered the Eurovision fandom, and made some of the amazing friends I have, nor would I have got opportunities such as being a part of EuroBuzz!

Over the last couple of years, MÉLOVIN has become one of my favourite artists, which again wouldn’t have happened without Eurovision, so it really does hold a special place in my heart. Giving it my 12 points really feels like the least I can do to give back to a song that means so much to me!

Grace

12. 🇸🇪 Loreen – Euphoria (Sweden 2012)
10. 🇸🇪 Måns Zelmerlöw – Heroes (Sweden 2015)
8. 🇸🇪 Eric Saade – Popular (Sweden 2011)
7. 🇩🇰 Emmelie de Forest – Only Teardrops (Denmark 2013)
6. 🇮🇹 Francesco Gabbani – Occidentali’s Karma (Italy 2017)
5. 🇮🇹 Ermal Meta & ‎Fabrizio Moro – Non Mi Avete Fatto Niente (Italy 2018)
4. 🇳🇴Alexander Rybak – Fairytale (Norway 2009)
3. 🇷🇸 Marija Šerifović – Molitva (Serbia 2007)
2. 🇮🇹 Mahmood – Soldi (Italy 2019)
1. 🇮🇹 Diodato – Fai Rumore (Italy 2020)

Euphoria got my 12 points because… For me, it’ll take a song, performance, and legacy I can’t even comprehend for me to give my 12 points in any ESC250 year to anything bar Euphoria, and this is another year it sits undisturbed at the top of my ranking.

One of the most prominent Eurovision memories I have, one of my favourite songs ever, and a performance that captivates me like no other right from the first second, with just a noise that had me thinking ‘there’s the winner’ before Loreen even sang “why”. Truly fantastic!

Lee

12. 🇪🇸 Lucia Perez – Que Me Quiten Lo Bailao (Spain 2011)
10. 🇷🇴 Voltaj – De la capăt (Romania 2015)
8. 🇮🇹 Francesco Gabbani – Occidentali’s Karma (Italy 2017)
7. 🇮🇪 Paul Harrington & Charlie McGettigan – Rock ‘n’ Roll Kids (Ireland 1994)
6. 🇪🇸 Mocedades – Eres tú (Spain 1973)
5. 🇳🇴 KEiiNO – Spirit In The Sky (Norway 2019)
4. 🇩🇰 Rasmussen – Higher Ground (Denmark 2019)
3. 🇮🇱 Gali Atari & Milk and Honey – Hallelujah (Isreal 1979)
2. 🇷🇸 Marija Šerifović – Molitva (Serbia 2007)
1. 🇪🇪 Getter Jaani – Rockefeller Street (Estonia 2011)

Que Me Quiten Lo Bailao got my 12 points because… In 2011, it was exactly the kind of song I needed to hear at the time: happy and upbeat, and it quickly became my favourite ESC entry both of 2011 and of all time.

Liv

12. 🇬🇷 Sarbel – Yassou Maria (Greece 2007)
10. 🇦🇹 Udo Jürgens – Sag Ihr, Ich Lass Sie Grüßen (Austria 1972)
8. 🇪🇸 Blas Cantó – Voy a quedarme (Spain 2021)

2. 🇸🇪Arvingarna – Eloise (Sweden 1993)
1. 🇸🇪 Måns Zelmerlöw – Heroes (Sweden 2015)

Yassou Maria got my 12 points because… It’s my favourite Eurovision song of all time! It’s a bop, and a song I instantly connected with when I first heard it. One of Greece’s best ever entries into the competition. I’ve given it my 12 for 3 years in a row & I don’t think that will ever change.

MJ

12. 🇳🇴 Margaret Berger – I Feed You My Love (Norway 2010)
10. 🇮🇹 Måneskin – Zitti e buoni (Italy 2021)
8. 🇸🇪 Loreen – Euphoria (Sweden 2012)
7. 🇺🇦 Go_A – SHUM (Ukraine 2012)
6. 🇮🇹 Mahmood – Soldi (Italy 2019)
5. 🇩🇪 Lena – Taken By a Stranger (Germany 2011)
4. 🇮🇸 Daði og Gagnamagnið – Think About Things (Icleand 2020)
3. 🇫🇷 Barbra Pravi – Voilà (France 2021)
2. 🇮🇸 Hatari – Hatrið mun sigra (Iceland 2019)
1. 🇪🇪 Urban Symphony – Rändajad (Estonia 2009)

I Feed You My Love got my 12 points because… Whenever anyone asks me what my favourite ESC entry is, I always tell them ‘I Feed You My Love’. I think it’s just an incredible song that was quite ahead of its time. It’s the song I always show to people who just think Eurovision is silly or cheesy music. Unfortunately I think 2013 audiences were perhaps not ready to give it the trophy and I wish the staging matched how dark and cool the song is. Ultimately I think this stopped it from getting higher than 4th but it’s at the top of my list!

Sophie

12. 🇵🇹 Salvador Sobral – Amar Pelos Dois (Portugal 2017)
10. 🇵🇹 Conan Osiris – Telemóveis (Portugal 2019)
8. 🇺🇦 Jamala – 1944 (Ukraine 2016)

6. 🇭🇺 AWS – Viszlát Nyár (HUngary 2018)
5. 🇭🇷 Doris Dragovic – Marija Magdalena (Croatia 1999)
4. 🇧🇪 Laura Tesoro – What’s the Pressure (Belgium 2016)
3. 🇮🇹 Måneskin – Zitti e Buoni (Italy 2021)
2. 🇷🇸 Marija Šerifović – Molitva (Serbia 2007)
1. 🇫🇷 Les Fatals Picards – L’Amour à la française (France 2007)

Amar Pelos Dois got my 12 points because… For me this is one of the best winning songs of all time. It’s so authentic and true to Salvador and you don’t have to understand Portuguese to feel the sincerity of the lyrics. It was really refreshing to see something like this win, and I do believe his win helped ramp up the need for more authenticity at Eurovision in the past few years. A timeless hit!

TJ

12. 🇳🇱 Duncan Laurence – Arcade (Netherlands 2019)
10. 🇮🇹 Il Volo – Grande Amore (Italy 2015)
8. 🇵🇹 Salvador Sobral – Amar Polos Dois (Portugal 2017)
7. 🇸🇪 Loreen – Euphoria (Sweden 2012)
6. 🇧🇪 Blanche – City Lights (Belgium 2017)
5. 🇨🇾 Eleni Foureira – Fuego (Cyprus 2018)
4. 🇮🇹 Mahmood – Soldi (Italy 2019)
3. 🇪🇪 Elina Born & Stig Rästa – Goodbye To Yesterday (Estonia 2015)
2. 🇦🇺 Dami Im – Sound Of Silence (Australia 2016)
1. 🇳🇱 Teach-In – Ding-A-Dong (Netherlands 1975)

Arcade got my 12 points because… I’ll always remember the chills I felt when Duncan hit the first note of the chorus of Arcade. It was the one song that completely transported me to a place I had never been before. Top that with beautiful lyrics, and he had a recipe for a Eurovision success story (and we all know how that went!).

I was so happy when this song started picking up international interest, and there’s no other song that deserves my 12 points!
